I’m Dr. Julie Potter, DC PhD and I am committed to helping women find their own path to healing. I believe that when women aren’t worrying about their health, they can improve their little corner of the world.

How did I get here?

I spent most of my life worrying about my health. As a child, I was in medical offices getting antibiotics and having my sinuses drained for:

  • Recurrent sinus infections

  • Tonsillitis

  • Ear infections

After getting my tonsils and adenoid out at six, my painful, recurrent sinus problems got better. HOWEVER they were replaced with lesser, but annoying problems:

  • Eczema

  • Gut pains and gurgles

  • Headaches

  • Painful menses

  • Hip pain

These problems would bother me for brief periods of time, but it was enough to make me feel and act differently from my classmates. I really wanted to be normal, but I spent MOST of my time making sure that people didn’t know I had all these little problems.

Things got worse in college and I went back to the medical offices to be told:

  • The tests say you’re normal.

  • Here’s a pill for the symptoms

  • You should just watch and wait.

When I became a chiropractic student, I found alternative medicine and nutrition helpful:

  • Weekly body work: adjustments and acupuncture
  • Gluten-free, dairy-free, peanuts-free, and reduced-sugar diets
  • Cleanses and fasts to clear toxins from my body

BUT I would still get weekly headaches, joint pain, and fall asleep around 8pm.

AND if I wasn’t consistent, the symptoms would get worse.

When I got married and started a family, I couldn't spend so much time on myself; keeping toddlers alive defeated me. I saved my energy wherever I could:

  • A messy kitchen

  • Clothes stuck in the washing machine for days

  • Getting short tempered or emotional whenever my energy got too low

  • Being sick for longer than normal

After being told that I needed yet another cleanse to get me back on track, I bolted from both approaches to health care and looked for my own solutions.

I needed to think about health differently.

I knew from chiropractic philosophy that the body has the ability to heal itself, so why was regular chiropractic and acupuncture, supplements, and clean eating not helping mine? Why was I feeling worse?

Two seminars in six months shifted how I looked at my health.

The first was on the Morphogenic Field Technique (MFT): a healing technique based on quantum physics and frequency matching. The goal of MFT is to increase the body’s energy field and function by cancelling out negative energies with positive energies.

The second was on the Microbiome: the trillions of bacteria (and other hitchhikers) that interact with your own cells and biochemistry in helpful and not so helpful ways.

Combining these ideas together, I generated The Healing Equation:

Energy to Heal = Good Energy In - Stressors

To heal, I need to increase my body and microbiome’s Good Energy In while decreasing Stressors. Using MFT, I can figure out what those energies are and increase my Energy to Heal

The Healing Equation also explains why health fads that made others better made me feel sick. They may have been Good Energy In for my body, but they were Stressors for my microbiome that had been altered by years of antibiotics.

The Healing Equation is also consistent with what I intuitively knew about health:

Health is NOT a one size fits all journey

As I found my healing path, I began to feel better, stronger, and healthier. As I felt better, I could:

  • Be more active.

  • Stay awake beyond 10pm.

  • Have patience with my kids and family.

  • Eat more foods without pain.

More importantly, I was able to put energy toward helping other women step outside of their health problems. Many of my patients have improved their health BUT more importantly they have started to:

  • Hold their boundaries

  • Find new jobs consistent with their values

  • Take fewer medications

  • Travel without fear of getting sick

  • Take on passion projects in their community
